Committee advances slate for Immigrant Rights Commission, approves residency waivers and records chair recusal

Vice Chair Rafael Mandelmann chaired the remainder of the item and outlined a proposed slate of candidates for multiple seats, several of them to be appointed with residency waivers. Supervisor Connie Chan said she supported the proposal.
Public comment included Jordan Davis, who urged appointment of candidates representing transgender and immigrant communities and named several applicants she supported, including Jesse Ruiz Navarro, Ryan Kajaszczak and Lucia Obregon Matzer. After public comment, Vice Chair Mandelmann moved the recommended slate, the committee took a roll call and passed the motion with Chair Peskin excused.
The committee's action was a recommendation; final appointments and residency‑waiver approvals will be considered by the full Board of Supervisors.
