Rules committee forwards several reappointments and a Board of Appeals nominee to full Board

The Rules Committee on Nov. 30 voted to forward multiple mayoral nominations and reappointments to the full Board with positive recommendations, including three reappointments to the successor agency (OCII) and the nomination of Tina Chang to the Board of Appeals.

Vivette Brackett, Carolyn Ransom Scott and Miguel Bustos each spoke briefly about their work on OCII and their commitment to equity and community benefits. Brackett and Bustos highlighted local-hire and community-benefit negotiations; Ransom Scott cited longstanding community service and delivery of compliance goals. A public caller (Camille Raimana) offered support for the slate.

On item 8, Tina Chang described her background in planning and redevelopment work, including service as a senior planner with the San Francisco Planning Department and recent private-sector work transforming a former power station site into housing and open space. Several former colleagues and community partners called in to endorse Chang's nomination, including former planning director John Rah, Board of Appeals commissioner Darrell Honda and project sponsor Enrique Landa, who praised her code knowledge, public-process skills and public-service record.

Roll-call votes recorded supervisor Marr and Chair Ronan as aye on the reappointments and the Board-of-Appeals nomination; each item was forwarded to the full Board with positive recommendation and without objection. The meeting then adjourned.
