Committee backs $17 million increase to Extech technology contract cap

Jackie Fong of the Office of Contract Administration explained this is a requirements contract distributed among multiple vendors; Extech is a joint venture of several local firms, including a minority‑owned and a woman‑owned business. Fong said Extech’s actual performance over the first 18 months required the higher cap to allow the vendor to compete for additional city projects such as data center consolidation and an expanded citywide e‑mail project.
Budget analyst Mr. Rose told the committee: "we concur that this request is justified going from $24,000,000, to $41,000,000, a $17,000,000 increase. However, I should note that none of these funds can be expended without prior appropriation approval by the Board of Supervisors." The committee received no public comment on the item.
A motion from Supervisor McRheemey, seconded by Supervisor Ellsburn, was made to send the resolution forward with the committee's recommendation.
