The committee considered a resolution authorizing the director of property to execute a three‑year lease with Poets Cafe LLC for city‑owned space within the Main Library on Larkin Street at a listed rent of $3,600 per year. Supervisor John Avalos (sponsor) noted the item did not meet the threshold for Budget & Finance referral.
Roberto Lombardi, director of facilities for the San Francisco Public Library, said the Poets Cafe was chosen after a competitive bid and that the new cafe would replace a long‑shuttered dining facility on the library’s lower floor, provide neighborhood amenities and help activate underused public building space.
After no public comment, a motion to approve and forward the lease to the full Board with recommendation carried without opposition.
