The Budget and Finance Committee recommended that the Board accept and expend a Department of Rehabilitation grant totaling $7,685,055 to the Department of Public Health to provide vocational rehabilitation services across its clinics.
Rudy Aguilar of DPH Community Behavioral Health Services said the program has been a longstanding collaboration with the Department of Rehabilitation and this is the department's third similar resolution in recent memory, supporting a range of vocational services for consumers. Mister Rose summarized fiscal impacts, stating the state grant amount is over three years and requires matching funds totaling $2,079,009.45; of that, $493,003.15 in general fund monies was appropriated in the 2010–11 budget for the first year, and a $600,000 Mental Health Services Act match is also available and previously approved.
There were no public commenters. The committee moved the resolution to the full Board with recommendation and recorded no objection.
Next steps: the item will be considered by the full Board; acceptance will obligate matching local funds as described in the fiscal report.
