The committee considered Item 2, an ordinance amending the subdivision code to allow applicants to obtain final or parcel transfer subdivision maps used only for conveyancing or financing and that do not grant development rights. DPW representative Mr. Storrs explained that similar transfer-map provisions already apply in Candlestick, Treasure Island and Mission Bay; the change will allow the Port to sell Parcel K at Pier 70 to help finance the broader redevelopment and make older lease parcels subdivision-compliant.
Mr. Storrs said the legislation aligns subdivision rules with practical needs for large redevelopment parcels, and noted it would also help the assessor with parcel numbering. The committee opened public comment and heard none. A motion to send the ordinance to the full Board with a recommendation was made and taken without objection.
The committee’s action was procedural and focused on easing conveyancing for large redevelopment projects, with the stated purpose of matching subdivision practice to present-day project sizes.
