On Jan. 8 the Land Use and Transportation Committee moved two Planning Code items to the full Board with positive recommendations.
Audrey Beck of the Planning Department presented an ordinance to revise the Planning Code’s definition of gross floor area, including removing an exemption that had previously excluded accessory buildings in C‑3 districts and excluding required car‑share parking from the gross‑floor‑area calculation. Staff said the change addresses ambiguities (the code does not define accessory buildings), aligns C‑3 treatment with other zoning districts and recognizes required car‑share parking as a transportation benefit that should not be counted as gross floor area.
Beck also presented technical corrections to Article 8 to fix accumulated drafting errors, clarify nighttime entertainment restrictions and update references to affordable‑housing requirements; she said the planning commission had unanimously recommended the corrections. Committee members took both items forward without public comment and with no recorded objections.
Both items were transmitted to the full Board for further consideration.
