Land Use Committee continues Gary Masonic special‑use district to next week

Chair Supervisor Katie Tang opened the meeting and the clerk called Item 1, an ordinance to create the Gary Masonic Special Use District. A staff representative from former Mayor Mark Farrell’s office asked that the committee continue the item one week to allow agreed amendments to be drafted to conform to Planning Commission recommendations.
Deputy City Attorney John Gibner told the committee the proposed amendments could be discussed at today’s hearing but that, if amendments were finalized, they would trigger a one‑week continuance so the amended language could be noticed and returned for consideration. The committee moved to continue the item and approved the continuance without objection. The clerk confirmed the item will return in early February for further consideration.
