Supervisors move to accept Shoreview Park; tenants and neighbors praise long‑awaited improvements

The Land Use & Transportation Committee recommended forwarding a resolution to accept Shoreview Park from the Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure (OCII) to the City and County of San Francisco for management by the Recreation and Park Department.
Supervisor Malia Cohen called the transfer "a big moment" for Southeastern neighborhoods and said OCII will transfer $1,900,000 through MOHCD to Rec and Park for capital improvements once the transfer is complete. Tenants and neighborhood representatives — including Janice Powell, tenant association president at Shoreview, and other longtime residents — described decades of limited park access and urged the city to prioritize playgrounds and community programming when work begins.
Rec and Park director Phil Ginsberg provided a map of the park and staff from the Department of Real Estate and OCII were available to answer questions. The committee approved forwarding the item with a positive recommendation without objection.
