The Rules Committee on April 27 recommended several nominees for appointment to the South of Market Community Stabilization Fund Community Advisory Committee and forwarded the list to the full Board of Supervisors.
Abigail Rivamante Mesa from Supervisor Matt Haney’s office described the fund’s mission to stabilize the SoMa community and said the advisory committee helps prioritize investments that mitigate the impacts of development. Applicants including Christian Martin (founding executive director of the SoMa West Community Benefit District), Janetta Johnson (community services experience), Carolyn Caldwell (director of operations at United Players), Chris Romasanta, Gina Rosales and others spoke about neighborhood services, cultural programming and small‑site housing investments.
During public comment, callers including Kevin Stone, Beth Hunt and Bob Goldfarb voiced support for Shannon Amickin (also spelled Shannon Amickin/Amatina in the transcript) and for Christian Martin. Chair Ronan moved to forward Supervisor Haney’s recommendations for seats described during the hearing; the roll call recorded "Aye" from Supervisors Stephanie, Mar and Ronan and the motion passed. The committee noted that several seats remain open and Haney’s office will follow up with remaining applicants.
