The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Rules Committee on March 2 voted to forward positive recommendations to the full Board for two reappointments to the Commission on Aging Advisory Council.
Juliet Rothman, who told the committee she has worked "in the direct practice in aging and disability for 25 years," sought reappointment and described experience that includes chairing ethics and hospice committees and teaching in social welfare and public health programs. "I am serving on the advisory council and... would like to continue," she said.
Margaret Graff, also seeking reappointment, described her dual background as a retired nurse and attorney and her local leadership, including serving on the advisory council's executive and legislative committees. Graff said she founded a local nonprofit, "Senior Power," to help caregivers and older residents, and said the group now offers translated services and monthly activities.
Committee members praised both nominees for community service and expertise on elder-care issues. An unidentified committee member moved to forward a positive recommendation for Rothman and the motion passed "without objection." A subsequent motion to recommend Graff likewise passed unanimously.
The recommendations advance both nominations to the full Board of Supervisors, which will take the final appointment action at a future meeting.
