Rules Committee approves oversight and appeals board appointments; Our City, Our Home seats filled

The San Francisco Rules Committee on Dec. 2 forwarded a slate of appointments and reappointments for several oversight and appeals bodies.
Oversight Committee: The committee moved to recommend Chanel Williams (Seat 2), Julie Ledbetter (Seat 4), Julia D'Antonio (Seat 6) and Jennifer Friedenbach (Seat 8) to the Our City, Our Home Oversight Committee. Applicants described a mix of lived experience and sector expertise: Julia D'Antonio recounted personal experience with homelessness and community organizing; Jennifer Friedenbach outlined her long tenure as executive director of the Coalition on Homelessness and advocacy experience on prevention and policy; Alice Chiu and Sherrell Jackson also presented relevant service backgrounds and interest in the body’s work. Multiple providers and advocacy groups — including Community Housing Partnership and Compass Family Services — publicly endorsed Friedenbach and other nominees.
Assessment appeals: The committee also reappointed members across the three Assessment Appeals Boards. Jeffrey Morris and Eugene Vaia were reappointed to Board No. 1; John Lee, Mervyn Conlon and Yosef Tabasov were recommended for Board No. 2; and Sean Regel and Mr. Reynolds were recommended for Board No. 3. Appointees summarized relevant real-estate, appraisal and public-service experience.
Committee action: All appointment and reappointment motions were moved and passed without recorded objections. Chair Hillary Ronan said she would contact the Mayor’s office to pursue mayoral appointments for additional qualified candidates the committee could not seat given available slots.
Next steps: The committee’s recommendations will be placed on the Board of Supervisors’ consent/regular agenda for formal confirmation and notification of appointees will follow.
