Committee corrects zoning map for 1493–1497 Potrero Avenue, restoring 40‑foot height designation

San Francisco — The committee recommended approval of an ordinance to reclassify the height and bulk designation for 1493–1497 Potrero Avenue, correcting what Planning staff described as an inadvertent mapping error in the Eastern Neighborhoods rezoning.
Aaron Starr of the Planning Department said the property — developed with a one‑story industrial building built in 1963 and located near Potrero and Cesar Chavez in the Showplace/Potrero area — had been intended to retain a 40X mixed‑use residential designation but was erroneously reclassified as Open Space (OS). The Planning Commission reviewed the item and recommended restoring a 40X designation while rejecting the owner’s initial request for a 55X classification.
Jim Abrams, counsel to the project sponsor, said the ordinance is a clerical correction. With no remaining public comment, the committee approved the ordinance and will forward it to the full Board with a favorable recommendation.
