The Land Use and Transportation Committee voted to recommend changes to the Mission and Ninth Street Special Use District that increase the development sponsor’s affordable-housing commitment. Supervisor Jane Kim said she moved an amendment committing 11 units targeted at households at 150% of area median income; with previously negotiated units, the project will provide 75 below-market-rate units across a range of incomes from 55% to 150% AMI.
Kim described the change as incorporating the Planning Commission’s recommendation to add moderate-income units and said the amendment reflects community-negotiated terms. Planning staff and commissioners are on the record supporting the modification as a modest but meaningful increase to the project’s affordability mix. No members of the public spoke on the item during the committee hearing, and the committee recommended the ordinance as a committee report to the Board.
The amendment was presented as a targeted clarification of the ordinance language to ensure the sponsor’s commitments made at the commission hearing are explicitly reflected in the code. The committee did not take additional amendments at the hearing and moved the item forward for full Board consideration.
