Committee approves map change to allow 10-foot sidewalk on Dejaro Street block

The Land Use & Transportation Committee voted without objection to advance an ordinance that would amend the mapped sidewalk width along Dejaro Street between 15th and 16th streets to allow a developer to construct a 10-foot sidewalk while retaining angled parking.
Javier Rivera of the Department of Public Works told the committee the area was never developed and that the legislation is legally a sidewalk reduction but in practice reflects the built condition. "It was reviewed and cleared for 10 feet," Rivera said. He added that planning, the Municipal Transportation Agency and the Fire Department have approved the plan.
Supervisor Aaron Peskin raised a technical discrepancy between the narrative and the exhibit, noting the packet text describes a 10-foot sidewalk while an exhibit appears to show an 11-foot remaining width after a four-foot cut. Rivera acknowledged the inconsistency and said he would double-check the exhibit and provide updated copies for the file.
There were no public commenters on the item. Supervisor Peskin made the motion to advance the ordinance and the committee took it "without objection." Committee staff and the presenter noted they would follow up offline to confirm and correct the recorded exhibit dimensions.
The committee forwarded the item to the full Board of Supervisors for consideration; the committee record indicates the motion passed without a recorded roll-call vote.
