Committee backs SFMTA request to place three operator convenience restrooms at bus terminals

Mao said the sites (Sunnydale, Parkridge/Burnett and 20th & Buckingham) were chosen for proximity to terminals and to fill gaps where operators lack restroom access during routes. The San Francisco Arts Commission approved the prefabricated restroom design on July 16, and the planning department determined the projects conformed to the general plan and were exempt from environmental review.
Staff described standard community outreach — 300-foot mailings, multilingual canvassing and neighborhood meetings. Public opposition at the Parkridge location raised concerns about safety, visibility and aesthetics; staff said they held a community meeting at the Noe Valley Public Library to solicit feedback and revised siting where recommended.
The committee voted to forward the resolution with a positive recommendation to the full board.
