Rules Committee sends ordinance expanding displaced‑tenants preference in affordable housing programs to Board

The Rules Committee on June 10 forwarded an ordinance to the full Board that would expand the displaced‑tenants preference in city affordable housing programs.
Clerk Victor Young described the draft ordinance as an Administrative Code amendment to extend preference to tenants whose units will no longer be restricted by a regulatory agreement or other affordable‑housing restriction within five years and where market‑rate rent in the tenant’s building is more than 40% of the tenant’s gross household income. Chair Supervisor Hillary Ronan told the committee the item had amendments made the previous week and therefore required one more week but proceeded to send it forward with a positive recommendation.
Committee members present did not object, and Chair Ronan moved the item to the full Board. The committee recommended the matter and then adjourned.
The ordinance will be considered by the full Board in a subsequent meeting.
