Rules Committee recommends Frank Fung for Planning Commission

The Rules Committee on April 22 recommended approval of Mayor’s nomination of Frank Fung to the San Francisco Planning Commission, sending the nomination to the full Board of Supervisors as a committee report.
Frank Fung told the committee he is an architect with extensive planning experience and previous service on the Board of Appeals. "I have extensive experience with the issues that will be faced at the planning commission," Fung said, noting priorities ranging from affordable housing to improved coordination with transit agencies.
Committee members asked Fung about the city's most pressing planning issues; Fung listed affordable housing, better interagency communications on circulation and dealing with neighborhood-level disputes as areas he would address. Public commenters including Michael Garcia and Tanya Peterson praised Fung’s long service on the Board of Appeals and recommended his selection.
A motion to approve the nomination was moved and passed 'without objection.' The committee’s recommendation will be forwarded to the full Board of Supervisors for final confirmation.
