Rules Committee recommends Rosheen Eisner and Richard Rotherman for park advisory seats

Rosheen Eisner, a District 10 resident and applicant nominated by Supervisor Shamann Walton, described persistent inequities in rec and park program distribution across city districts and presented goals she would pursue if appointed: advocate for equity in programs, update equity metrics and improve culturally competent outreach. Eisner said, “There are only 7 distinct rec and park programs for kids available in D10... District 10 has the largest population of children of any district in the city,” pressing the committee on disparities in services.
Richard Rotherman, nominated by a District 1 supervisor and serving as the committee’s outgoing first vice chair, said he would work to ensure Rec and Park follows Prop B equity measures, improve safe access to Golden Gate Park (noting concerns crossing Fulton Street), and reopen a WPA murals building at the zoo that has been closed since February.
An unidentified committee member moved to forward both nominees with positive recommendations; Chair Ronan said, “Without objection, that motion passes.” The recommendations will appear on the Board of Supervisors March 12 agenda for final action.
