Clerk read Item 4, an ordinance amending the planning code to create a conditional-use pathway enabling certain existing second-floor bar uses in the Upper Market neighborhood commercial transit district to legalize and expand where an internal stairway connection exists. Supervisor Scott Wiener, sponsor, said the legislation is narrowly crafted and had unanimous Planning Commission support and endorsements from local merchants and neighborhood associations.
Planning staff confirmed the Planning Commission heard the item on Feb. 4 and recommended unanimous approval. There was no public comment. Supervisor Wiener moved to forward the item to the full Board of Supervisors with a positive recommendation; the committee approved the motion unanimously.
