Supervisors approve retroactive year-to-year lease renewal for HSA at Bayview Plaza

The Board’s budget committee approved a year‑to‑year lease renewal Dec. 8 for the Human Services Agency’s Bayview satellite office at 3801 Third Street, Suite 200, retroactive to Sept. 1, 2009.
Amy Brown, the city’s director of property, said the space is about 6,122 square feet and the proposed monthly base rent is $15,060.12, representing a reduction compared with the department’s previous all‑in cost. The lease includes a termination-for-convenience provision allowing the city to end the agreement with 90 days’ notice.
Phil Arnold, deputy director of HSA, said the site houses family and children services—adoptions, licensing and foster‑care functions—and that the department plans to pursue consolidation of holdings in the building to achieve a single long-term lease if negotiations with the landlord allow.
The budget analyst noted the rent decrease equates to roughly $1,898 per month in savings and recommended approval; the committee amended the resolution to provide retroactive authorization and moved the item forward.
