Committee renews SRO Task Force sunset and membership changes; forwards to full board

The committee considered an ordinance to extend the sunset date of the Single Room Occupancy (SRO) Task Force to 12/31/2021, to eliminate one seat, and to change the membership of another seat. Jamie Senbat Matsu (SRO Task Force chair) summarized the task force’s role as a forum for tenants, landlords and service providers and said the proposed membership adjustments followed city departmental reorganizations that placed some previous department members in the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing.
Several tenant leaders, SRO stakeholders, and task force members testified in support, highlighting work on sprinklers, visitor policy, bed bugs, eviction prevention and other tenant protections. Supervisor Stephanie moved the item to the full board with a positive recommendation and the committee approved without objection.
