Vivian Day, director of the Department of Building Inspection, asked the committee to approve an interagency agreement to provide plan review and field inspection services to the Transbay Joint Powers Authority on an as‑needed basis over a four‑year period. Day asked the committee to delete other city agencies from the MOU so the item would focus on the Transbay agreement.
The budget analyst reported that DBI could receive an estimated $7 million in plan‑review and inspection fees over four years and reiterated that any expenditures of those revenues would require Board appropriation. The department said it did not anticipate immediate additional hires but might request positions in a future budget or supplemental if workload required new staffing.
Supervisor (speaker 15) moved to accept the amendment striking other agencies from the MOU, and the committee forwarded the item to the full Board with recommendation.
