The San Francisco Rules Committee on Sept. 12 moved three supervisor appointment items to the full Board with positive recommendations.
The clerk called Item 2, a motion appointing Supervisor Rafael Mandelman to the Association of Bay Area Governments executive board (term ending June 30, 2019), and Item 3, appointing Mandelman to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Board of Directors (term ending Feb. 1, 2021). Kyle Smiley, legislative aide for Supervisor Mandelman, spoke for Mandelman, saying he was chairing another meeting but is committed to creating regional solutions on homelessness, transportation and economic development.
The committee also considered Item 4, appointing Supervisor Valerie Brown to the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District. Deputy City Attorney John Gibner advised that an appointed supervisor should be excused or recuse from a vote on their own appointment; the committee handled recusal protocol and moved the appointment forward without objection.
All three appointments were passed out to the full Board with positive recommendations and no objections recorded in committee.
