Committee advances multiple reappointments and board nominations, including Port and Treasure Island nominees

The Rules Committee on April 11 advanced a slate of mayoral nominations and reappointments to several city bodies, sending them to the full Board with positive recommendations.

Highlights included reappointment hearings for Port Commission and Treasure Island Development Authority nominees. Doreen Wu Ho summarized her Port Commission experience and accomplishments dating to her 2011 appointment by Mayor Ed Lee and the committee moved her reappointment forward; William Adams' reappointment was continued at his request. Victor Makris and Gail Gilman (appointments or continuations) were also advanced or continued as appropriate. V. Faye Sen, Linda Richardson and Paul Giusti presented qualifications for reappointment to the Treasure Island Development Authority; the committee moved their nominations forward with positive recommendations and received public comment supporting Linda Richardson’s reappointment.

The committee also considered advisory-council appointments: two candidates for the Commission on Aging advisory council (Margaret Graff and Eleanor Lurie) were forwarded to the full Board with positive recommendation after statements about caregiving, dementia and community service. For the Balboa Park Station Community Advisory Committee, youth commissioner Balam Vigil and pedestrian/bike advocate Jason Chaminard were nominated and forwarded to the Board with positive recommendations.

Next steps: Each nomination and reappointment will be considered by the full Board; most were forwarded without objection from the committee.
