Rules Committee forwards two Eastern Neighborhoods CAC appointments to full Board

SAN FRANCISCO — The Rules Committee recommended Feb. 1 that the full Board of Supervisors consider two appointments to the Eastern Neighborhoods Citizens Advisory Committee, forwarding both with a positive recommendation.
Alia Chisti, a legislative aide to Supervisor Cohen, asked the committee to confirm the reappointment of Irma Lewis to Seat 2, saying, “Supervisor Cohen is requesting that the committee confirm the reappointment of Irma Lewis to seat 2, the Eastern Neighborhoods Citizens Advisory Committee.” Chisti told the committee Lewis had been appointed months earlier to finish a term and had been active in the Dogpatch community, including work with the community group Toes and Paws and advocacy for parks and green space.
Applicant Jolene Yee addressed the committee describing volunteer and neighborhood work. “I am very excited for the opportunity to serve on the Eastern,” she said, noting her service with Friends of Franklin Square and that she represents young families in District 10. Committee members confirmed that Supervisor Cohen had supplied a letter of support and the applicant provided a copy to the clerk during the meeting.
The agenda packet listed the appointments as “term ending October 1939”; the committee did not supply a corrected year on the record. Clerk Victor Young told attendees that items acted on at the meeting will appear on the Board of Supervisors agenda on Feb. 13 unless otherwise noted.
Chair Supervisor Asha Safaei said the committee would send the recommendations forward; a motion to recess was taken and, before recess, the chair stated the committee would forward the item with a positive recommendation to the full Board. The committee did not record a roll-call vote in the transcript; the chair announced the item was ordered and approved without objection.
The Board of Supervisors will take up the appointments as part of its upcoming agenda; the committee’s action on Feb. 1 was a recommendation, not a final appointment.
