Committee appoints Patricia Sullivan to OECE advisory panel and reappoints Candace Wong

On June 28 the Rules Committee recommended Patricia Sullivan to seat 6 on the Office of Early Care & Education (OECE) Citizens Advisory Committee and reappointed Candace Wong to seat 8, forwarding both recommendations to the Board with a positive recommendation.
Patricia Sullivan, president of the Family Child Care Association of San Francisco, described running a family childcare program for 25 years and said family child care operates as owner-operator homes that require providers to live on-site. She warned that rising housing costs and the loss of certain wage subsidies have strained providers. "We're required by law to live here and live where we are working...we're paying extraordinarily high mortgages and rental rates," Sullivan said (Patricia Sullivan).
Speakers and applicants highlighted the need to protect infant and toddler care, ensure continuity of care for subsidized children and to align funding so parents can choose family childcare without losing continuity when other funding streams change.
After questions and public endorsement from family-childcare networks, Supervisor (speaker 5) moved to appoint Patricia Sullivan and reappoint Candace Wong; the chair ordered the item without objection.
