Rules committee recommends four candidates for Veterans Affairs Commission

Duane Kennedy, vice president of the Veterans Affairs Commission, and representatives of veterans service organizations spoke about the need to defend veterans’ health and benefits under an uncertain federal administration. Applicants described service records and community work: Victor Olivieri and Victor Nzunza (both veterans), David Chastain (Iraq veteran and veterans-organization leader), Shannon Kissinger and Kelsey Campbell (veterans with community and policy backgrounds), and Dottie Guy (incumbent secretary seeking reappointment).
Supervisor commentary recommended a slate for the four seats: Victor Olivieri (seat 1), Kelsey Campbell (seat 2), David Chastain (seat 4) and reappointment of Dottie Guy (seat 12). The committee voted to forward those recommendations to the full board with a positive recommendation.
