Committee advances ordinance to codify Balboa Park Station Area community advisory committee

The Rules Committee advanced an ordinance to codify the Balboa Park Station Area Plan Community Advisory Committee and extend its sunset date.
Beth Rubenstein, representing Supervisor Avalos, explained the CAC was formed after the station-area plan to shepherd recommendations and coordinate agencies around the complex Balboa Park / BART / Muni intersection. The proposed Administrative Code amendment would establish the committee—s size, membership, terms and term limits and extend the sunset to Feb. 28, 2020.
Two small amendments were proposed: limit the CAC to a maximum of six meetings per year to avoid meeting fatigue among community members and staff, and adopt a two-year sunset instead of a three-year sunset. Sarah Jones, MTA planning director, confirmed MTA staffs the committee and supports continued partnership.
Public comment was invited and none was offered. Supervisors moved and seconded to forward the ordinance as amended as a committee report to the Board of Supervisors; the motion carried without objection.
The committee record shows the item was advanced to the Board agenda for consideration on Nov. 1 as a committee report.
