Rules Committee advances multiple advisory-board appointments including Food Security Task Force and CPAC

The Rules Committee advanced a slate of advisory-board appointments and committee recommendations at its Oct. 25 meeting.

Item 1: The committee appointed Chester Williams and Jeffrey Greer to two indefinite-term openings on the Food Security Task Force and approved residency waivers required for both applicants. Both candidates presented brief statements emphasizing neighborhood nutrition work, outreach to SRO residents and community-based programming. Supervisors announced the waivers, excused an absent supervisor and approved the appointments by voice without objection.

Item 2: The committee appointed three members to the Child Care Planning and Advisory Council (CPAC) for terms ending March 19, 2019. Karen Little (District 2), an applicant identified as Kol?da/Koleda (District 10/C10), and Laura Moyer (jointly appointed seat C13, deputy director of the Department of Children, Youth, and Their Families) were approved; staff noted one agenda vacancy number was incorrectly listed and that the seat C13 is jointly appointed with the Board of Education.

Item 3: For the Public Utilities Revenue Bond Oversight Committee, the committee recommended Tim Cronin (seat 1) and Robert Leschner (seat 2) to the full Board for consideration on Nov. 1. Both applicants described finance, bond issuance and clean-energy project experience and said they would emphasize transparency in bond oversight; the motion to forward the names was carried without objection.

All three items were forwarded as committee reports to the full Board. The clerk reminded the committee of the Board calendar and that actions taken in Rules will appear on the Board agenda for the indicated date.
