Committee amends DPH contract request, keeps community behavioral health contract and asks DPH to report back in two months

DPH told the committee it reissued a fiscal-intermediary RFP (closes Dec. 3) and expects a resulting contract by February; the committee struck one housing/urban health contract from the request and retained the community behavioral health contract, asking DPH to return with an update in two months.
The committee reviewed a retroactive resolution authorizing two DPH contracts for mental-health and fiscal-intermediary services and received an update on the department’s rewritten RFP for fiscal-intermediary services.
Anne Okubo (DPH) said the RFP was rewritten and reissued and is set to close December 3; the department mailed it to hundreds of nonprofits and private financial firms and expects to have a contract from that process by February. Committee members expressed urgency that the community behavioral health contract be bridged to avoid payment gaps after Dec. 31, when the current contract expires.
Following discussion, a supervisor moved to strike the housing and urban health contract from the resolution and to proceed only with the community behavioral health contract. The committee also asked the City Attorney to prepare resolving language that would request DPH return to the Budget Committee with an update in two months. The chair accepted the amendment and the committee forwarded the revised resolution.
