Michael Carlin, assistant general manager for water, said the replacement is time-sensitive because T‑Mobile is taking over certain microwave frequencies in the Tuolumne County area and the city must vacate those frequencies soon. The communications system is part of the utility’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) network used to control powerhouses and switchyards.
Carlin said the contract is a piggyback arrangement tied to work T‑Mobile is doing in the Tuolumne County area. Supervisors asked about the residual $232,013 in the fund; Carlin said leftover funds would be reappropriated to other upcountry microwave projects.
Mr. Rose noted the proposed contract amount was $2,700 less than requested and recommended reducing the requested $1.2 million to $1,197,300; the committee adopted the analyst’s amendment and forwarded the item with recommendation. No public comment was recorded.
