At the start of the July 18 special Rules Committee meeting the clerk described Item 2 as the third draft of a charter amendment that would require the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) and the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD) to propose five‑year strategic plans for Board consideration and placement on the Nov. 8, 2016 ballot. Chair Katie Chang opened Item 2 for public comment, none was offered, and the committee moved without objection to send Item 2 as a committee report to the Board’s July 19 meeting.
Procedure: The clerk said items acted on in committee would appear on the July 26 Board agenda unless otherwise stated. The committee’s motion to forward Item 2 was recorded in the committee minutes as accepted without objection; no additional material conditions or amendments were recorded during the discussion.
Next steps: Item 2 will be processed as a committee report for the Board of Supervisors’ July 19 agenda and, if approved by the Board and the voters, would take effect following the Nov. 8, 2016 election.
