Rules Committee advances two advisory-board appointments

The Special Rules Committee unanimously recommended Jesse Tepper for the Treasure Island Development Authority Citizens Advisory Board and Fonda Davidson for the Child Care Planning and Advisory Council during its July 21 meeting; both nominations will be forwarded to the full Board of Supervisors.
The Special Rules Committee on July 21 recommended two candidates for advisory-board seats to the full San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
Jesse Tepper received a positive recommendation for seat 9 of the Treasure Island Development Authority Citizens Advisory Board after committee members heard from both Tepper and rival applicant David Brentlinger. Brentlinger, who described experience in large-scale project management, waterfront remediation and recreation improvements, deferred to Tepper during his remarks. Peter Strauss, a longtime advocate for youth baseball and Challenger baseball for players with disabilities, told the committee Tepper “brings a valuable, invaluable perspective” to Treasure Island development and public access for athletics.
Fonda Davidson was recommended for seat 8 on the Child Care Planning and Advisory Council. Davidson said she has attended the committee for many years as director of the Cross Cultural Family Center and highlighted work on workforce and policy subcommittees focused on childcare providers and families; Supervisor Norman Yee and colleagues voiced support.
Both recommendations were moved and taken without objection and will be placed on the Board of Supervisors agenda for Aug. 2 for final consideration.
The committee handled the two appointments early in the meeting before taking up two separate ballot initiatives later in the agenda.
