Rules Committee confirms a slate of appointments to advisory bodies

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Rules Committee on May 12 confirmed a series of appointments to city advisory bodies, taking each motion without objection.
Catherine Orland was appointed to the Bicycle Advisory Committee as the District 9 representative. Orland described herself as a long‑time San Francisco Bicycle Coalition volunteer, a daily bicycle commuter and a bicycle‑industry sales manager; Supervisor Eric Marr praised her community organizing and industry experience and moved her appointment, which the Committee approved.
The Committee moved a positive recommendation for Megan (Meg) Lohman to the Urban Forestry Council and approved a waiver of the residency requirement so she could serve. Mei Ling Wei, Urban Forest Coordinator at the Department of the Environment, read a letter of support describing Lohman's decades of forestry research and education work.
Anna Theresa G, nominated by Friends of Decker Park, was appointed to the Park, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Committee (seat 17) after she told supervisors she has lived in the Tenderloin for more than 16 years and has led local park outreach and renovation work.
Marina Pelosi was reappointed to the Public Utilities Revenue Bond Oversight Committee (seat 2) by unanimous consent.
On the Commission of Animal Control and Welfare the Committee confirmed Dr. Robin Hansen to the veterinarian seat, reappointed Anne Marie Fortier as chair, and appointed Nicole "Bunny" Matthews Rosenberg to the remaining open seat. Public commenters and current commissioners urged continued progress on a long‑planned rebuild of the animal care and control facility and raised concerns about off‑leash rules in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
All of the appointment motions were moved and approved without recorded roll‑call votes; where a mover or second was spoken on the record it is noted in the Committee minutes. The items will appear on the Board of Supervisors agenda on May 24, 2016 unless otherwise stated.
