Rules Committee recommends Roland Pickens for San Francisco Health Authority seat

Roland Pickens appeared before the Rules Committee on Sept. 10 as the mayor’s nominee to fill a San Francisco Health Authority seat representing San Francisco General Hospital.
Pickens recounted a career spanning UCSF, hospital administration and nonprofit boards, and described priorities for the Health Authority including continued implementation of the Affordable Care Act and aggressive outreach to enroll eligible residents in Medi-Cal and Covered California. “We’ve had great success here in San Francisco, more so than most counties in the country, but we need to be vigilant,” Pickens said.
Committee members expressed confidence in his qualifications and moved to forward a positive recommendation to the full Board for confirmation.
