The committee considered a resolution authorizing exercise of a five-year option to extend a lease for approximately 25,939 square feet at 1390 Market Street used by the Department of Public Health (DPH). Amy Brown, director of property for the city, described the extension as straightforward: the rent will adjust to 95% of fair market value, which she reported equates to $70,062 per month, or $32.41 per square foot, and the option would extend the lease through November 2033.
Brown said the space has been leased by the city since 1996 and is occupied by DPH's environmental health section; she noted the rental rate would remain flat for the extension period under the terms presented. Richard Lee, deputy director of the environmental health section, was present for questions about the program. The budget analyst, Mr. Rose, told the committee he recommended approval.
With no public comment and no objection from committee members, the chair moved to forward the resolution to the full Board of Supervisors with a recommendation for approval; the committee then adjourned.
