Rules Committee advances mayoral and board appointments to city commissions and advisory bodies

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Rules Committee moved forward a slate of mayoral and supervisor appointments and reappointments on a crowded agenda that stretched across veterans, housing, community development and early-childhood panels.

The committee gave a positive recommendation for Debbie Meslow to the Commission on the Status of Women after Meslow described years of public-service experience, including work on human-trafficking legislation while in the district attorney’s office and state attorney general’s offices and private-sector experience at Gap. “I’m honored to be appointed by the mayor to the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women,” Meslow said while outlining plans to increase private-sector engagement with the commission. Vice Chair Katie Tang moved to approve the appointment and the committee amended the motion to forward it as a committee report; the motion was seconded and taken without objection.
