Committee advances ordinance authorizing municipal ID cards for San Francisco residents

Supervisor Tom Ammiano asked the Budget and Finance Committee on Tuesday to forward an ordinance adding section 95.2 to the San Francisco Administrative Code that would authorize the county clerk to issue municipal identification cards to City and County residents.
"We made some amendments at our last meeting that were considered substantive," Ammiano said, and asked that the committee entertain a motion to send the item to the full board as a committee report. Chair Supervisor Aaron Peskin called for public comment, received none, and, without objection, directed that the ordinance be sent to the full Board of Supervisors with a committee recommendation.
The ordinance was advanced on unanimous consent. The committee record shows the clerk read the item at the special meeting and noted the matter will proceed to a full board hearing. No public commenters spoke in favor or opposition during the committee’s public comment period.
The next step is consideration by the full Board of Supervisors, where the ordinance will be scheduled for a hearing and final vote.
