Item 2: The committee heard Matt Pemberton's nomination for the Childcare Planning and Advisory Council (CPAC) to represent District 4 as a childcare provider. Pemberton described his decade of experience in out-of-school time programs, his role as executive director of the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center and his interest in addressing how the $15 minimum wage will affect childcare and early-education providers. The committee received public comment in support of Pemberton's appointment and forwarded his nomination with a positive recommendation to the full Board.
Items 3 and related: The committee considered seven applicants for the San Francisco Health Authority; applicants such as John Gressman, Lawrence Chung and Steve Fugaro described priorities including Medi-Cal expansion, the need for a health information exchange, and maintaining fiscal reserves as membership grows. John Guderina, CEO of the San Francisco Health Plan, urged support for all candidate appointments. The committee voted to forward those reappointments with a positive recommendation to the full Board.
Other items: The committee approved forwarding multiple supervisors' reappointments to outside agencies (Golden Gate Bridge Highway & Transportation District; Local Agency Formation Commission; Metropolitan Transportation Commission; Mental Health Board; Bay Conservation & Development Commission) and approved a residency waiver and positive recommendation for a Balboa Park Station Community Advisory Committee appointment. The committee also advanced amendments to Board rules renaming several committees and reallocating settlement-review responsibility to the Government Audit & Oversight Committee.
All items were forwarded to the full Board with positive recommendations and will appear on the Board agenda for further action.
