Rules Committee appoints members to Balboa Park Station Community Advisory Committee

Supervisor Norman Yee presented recommended appointments to the Balboa Park Station Community Advisory Committee and the Rules Committee moved and approved the slate with no objections on Jan. 15. The committee noted there are nine seats and eight applicants and recommended assignments to maximize representation and quorum reliability.

Appointments and seat recommendations announced by Supervisor Yee included Mark Kress (seat 1), Alexander Malaney (seat 3), Aaron Goodman (seat 8), Robert Muelebauer (seat 9), Rita Evans (seat 2), Chuck Burwell (seat 6), Dan Weaver (seat 5) and Gwen McKellan McKellan (seat 4). Several applicants described their local affiliations during brief remarks — for example, Mark Kress said he represents Mission Terrace and is a student at City College of San Francisco; Alexander (Alex) Malaney said he publishes the Ingleside Light and chairs a local business street-life committee; Dan Weaver said he is the outgoing executive director of the Ocean Avenue Association and an incumbent member of the committee.

There was no public testimony on the appointments. Supervisor Yee asked applicants whether they could meet the committee’s typical evening, every-other-month schedule; the chair and members emphasized the need for quorum. A motion to adopt the recommended appointments was made and carried with no objection.

The committee did not immediately fill the remaining open seat; the clerk noted that if a nonresident were appointed, a residency waiver would be required under the applicable resolution.
