The Rules Committee voted Sept. 18 to advance Jeff Kositzky’s nomination for a four-year term on the Treasure Island Development Authority (TIDA) board to the full Board of Supervisors.
Kositzky, currently executive director of the Hamilton Family Center, described 25 years working in affordable housing and social services and said he helped develop and manage more than 100 units of affordable housing on Treasure Island. "I'm very excited to be part of the development of 8,000 new units in the city, 2,000 of which will be much needed affordable housing," he told the committee.
Supervisors asked Kositzky about transportation and climate risks for Treasure Island; he said he supports measures to ease access for residents — including improved bus and ferry service — and noted engineers have plans to elevate island development to address sea-level rise. Sherry Williams of the Treasure Island Homeless Development Initiative testified in support of Kositzky, calling him "uniquely qualified" to represent the needs of homeless families on the island.
With no public opposition, supervisors expressed broad support and approved the nominee "without objection," advancing the appointment to the full Board of Supervisors for confirmation.
