He said the Navy recently began unit-by-unit testing and that tenant leases now require proof of insurance and are verified at renewal.
Public commenters, including long-time residents and labor leaders, urged the committee to support Mazzola's reappointment, citing his attention to resident concerns, worker protections and his work to prepare the island for construction and commercial leasing. Committee members moved to forward his nomination with a positive recommendation to the full Board.
