SAN FRANCISCO — The Rules Committee heard a presentation May 1 from Deputy City Attorney John Givner on an omnibus ordinance intended to correct typographical errors, outdated cross‑references and sunsetted provisions across multiple municipal codes.
Givner said the office created new review processes about two years earlier to catch legal issues earlier in the legislative process and that this ordinance consolidates cleanup items discovered since. "The ordinance before you today is just an attempt to correct all those that we found over the last year and a half or so," he told the committee, calling the package "completely non‑substantive" and "pure cleanup correcting typos, cross references, and that type of thing."
Supervisor Katie Tang moved to forward the ordinance to the full Board with a positive recommendation and thanked the city attorney's office for implementing the new review system; the committee approved the referral with no objection. Chair Supervisor Norman Yee noted some sunsetted provisions (for example a now‑expired noise task force entry) were removed.
What happens next: The ordinance will be placed on the May 13 Board agenda for formal consideration and adoption.
