The Rules Committee on June 5 recommended the Board of Supervisors confirm Linda Richardson’s reappointment to the Treasure Island Development Authority (TIDA) Board of Directors.
Richardson, who said she was honored to be reappointed by Mayor Ed Lee, described her planning experience in the Southeast sector and prior service on the planning commission and Bay Conservation and Development Commission. She noted the city does not yet own Treasure Island — the Navy still holds ownership and is responsible for the cleanup — and that state regulatory agencies including the California Department of Public Health, the Regional Water Board and the Department of Toxic Substances Control also provide oversight. Richardson said entitlement processes and further development planning will follow the Navy’s cleanup and release of data.
Members of the public and community groups, including Reverend Aurelius Walker and representatives of Supervisor Jane Kim’s office, urged the committee to reaffirm Richardson’s appointment, citing her community ties, experience with the Shipyard and neighborhood outreach work. Committee members expressed support and, without objection, passed the recommendation to the full Board for confirmation.
