Committee endorses two reappointments to SRO Task Force, approves residency waiver

The Rules Committee recommended two appointments to the city’s Single‑Room Occupancy (SRO) Task Force and approved a residency waiver for one applicant on March 6.
Sam Patel described more than 30 years of experience operating SRO hotels and said he has served on the SRO Task Force since its inception. Pratipa Tekke, an organizing director with the SRO Collaborative (part of Children’s Housing Clinic), said she brings tenant outreach experience and intends to focus on safety issues affecting tenants.
Rosemarie Bosque, Chief Housing Inspector and chair of the SRO Task Force, told the committee both candidates regularly attend and contribute to the Task Force and highlighted current work on elevator accessibility for seniors and people with disabilities.
Supervisor Katie Tang moved to recommend both candidates to the full Board and to grant a residency waiver for Ms. Tekke. The motion passed without objection and the recommendations will appear on the March 18 Board agenda.
The appointments aim to sustain tenant representation and technical expertise on ongoing SRO issues, including pest control, safety protocols and elevator access improvements.
