Eight community nominees introduced themselves and their organizations: Karen Gruniesen (represented by Liz Pocock, Episcopal Community Services), Ann Quaintance (Meals on Wheels), Teresa Oling (San Francisco & Marin Food Bank), Bruce McKinney (Glide Memorial, free meals program manager), Dolores McGee (Community Living Campaign), Hilary Seligman (San Francisco General primary care physician/Center for Vulnerable Populations), Charles Summer (St. Anthony Foundation dining-room manager), and Simon Pitchford (Project Open Hand director of operations). They described work ranging from meal delivery and senior nutrition to nutrition-health linkages and disaster planning.
Supervisors noted recent grocery-store closures (Fresh & Easy) and emphasized the task force’s role in addressing food deserts and coordinating city assets. The committee moved to forward the eight nominees to the full Board with recommendations and assigned seat numbers for each nominee; the motion passed by consensus.
