Rules Committee forwards two Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee nominees after robust public testimony

The Rules Committee advanced two nominees for the Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) after a competitive hearing that drew multiple endorsements from disability and senior advocacy groups.
Pyra (a long-serving PSAC member) described decades of involvement in pedestrian-safety programs, senior-university trainings and collaborations with Walk San Francisco and other safety organizations. "I've been doing this for years because I really enjoy it," Pyra said, recounting prior leadership roles on the committee.
Rebecca (Becky) Hogue, a Treasure Island resident and longtime disability advocate, and Kimberly Jones, an architect who described surviving a serious pedestrian collision, were both extensively endorsed by speakers who highlighted lived experience and programmatic knowledge. John Alex Sowell, Jazzy Collins and other advocates described recipients’ long-term contributions to senior and disability pedestrian programs.
After deliberation supervisors noted the difficulty of choosing between strong candidates and nominated Pyra for seat 2 and Becky Hogue for seat 3; the motion passed by voice vote. Committee members encouraged Kimberly Jones to reapply when other openings arise.
What happens next The Rules Committee record forwards both nominees to the full Board, which will consider confirmation at the Board’s stated date (items forwarded to the June 4 agenda).
