Board committee names members to Central Market/Tenderloin Citizens Advisory Committee

The Budget and Finance Committee approved a slate of appointments to the Central Market Street and Tenderloin Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), selecting community representatives with experience in workforce development, tenant advocacy and small-business entrepreneurship.
Supervisor Jane Kim outlined the CAC’s origins and recommended candidates for specific seats based on their backgrounds. The committee heard statements from applicants including Peter Masiak (workforce and tenant organizing, applicant for Seat 2), Steven Suzuki (workforce training, SEIU collaboration), Julian Dash (small-business entrepreneurship and youth mentoring), Jeff Kositzky (homelessness and affordable housing experience) and several resident applicants who emphasized tenant advocacy and neighborhood services.
Community organizations voiced support for several nominees. Michael Nolte of the Tenants Association Coalition provided a recommended list mirroring Kim's picks, and individual residents spoke in favor of named candidates. Supervisor Kim asked applicants how they would mitigate impacts of large development; applicants cited community benefits agreements and early community engagement as key tools.
Supervisor Brie moved a residency-waiver motion for one nominee (Brad Paul) and supported Kim’s recommendations. The committee moved, seconded and approved the following appointments: Peter Masiak (Seat 2), Steven Suzuki (Seat 3), Brad Paul (Seat 5, residency waiver approved), Julian Dash (Seat 7), Jeff Kositzky (Seat 8), Antoinette Stadelman (Seat 11) and Steven Tennis (Seat 10). Appointees were congratulated by the chair.
The newly composed CAC will advise the Board and city staff on neighborhood policies in Mid-Market and the Tenderloin, including workforce and mitigation strategies for incoming development.
