The San Francisco Rules Committee on May 16 voted to forward nominees for several advisory boards and commissions to the full Board of Supervisors, advancing candidates for the Bicycle Advisory Committee, Urban Forestry Council, the SoMa Community Stabilization Fund advisory committee, and the Graffiti Advisory Board.
Chair Supervisor Norman Yee called the committee to order and noted that items acted on today will appear on the Board’s June 4 agenda. For the Bicycle Advisory Committee the committee moved nominees Kevin Dole (seat 1) and Bert Hill (seat 7) to the full Board after applicants and several public supporters highlighted the need to sustain advisory capacity as city bike-plan projects resume.
The committee also advanced appointments to the Urban Forestry Council after supporters described nominees’ professional experience: Andrew Sullivan (represented by Dan Flanagan) was noted for landscape-architecture and green-infrastructure work, while Dan Kietta was described as a PG&E certified arborist with operational experience inspecting and overseeing trees around electrical lines.
On the SoMa Community Stabilization Fund advisory seat, the committee heard endorsements stressing the seat’s role representing low-income seniors and people with disabilities in a rapidly changing neighborhood and moved Alicia (Sam) Duke forward with committee recommendation. The Graffiti Advisory Board business/property-owner seat was advanced for Dan Kling, a Recology employee who said he meets the property-owner requirement for the seat.
Votes at a glance • Item 1 (Bicycle Advisory Committee): Motion to forward Kevin Dole (seat 1) and Bert Hill (seat 7) to the full Board — motion passed with no objection. • Item 3 (Urban Forestry Council): Motion to forward nominees for seats 2 and 3 to the full Board — motion passed with no objection. • Item 5 (SoMa Community Stabilization Fund CAC): Motion to forward Alicia (Sam) Duke to the full Board — motion passed with no objection. • Item 6 (Graffiti Advisory Board): Motion to forward Dan Kling to the full Board — motion passed with no objection.
The committee’s actions were taken by voice motion or unanimous consent; the record shows no roll-call tallies in committee minutes. The Board of Supervisors will consider each nomination at its June 4 meeting.
